Richard D. Keirn, Founder
Chief Executive Officer
Henderson Service Office

Richard is the Senior Service Officer for the Henderson Service Office and a coordinator with American Legion BMI Post 40 in Henderson, Nevada. He volunteers 40-60 hours per week helping veterans and their dependents with filing claims to the Veterans Administration and assisting them with resolving other military related concerns. He spends numerous hours working diligently on organizing the Henderson Service Office into a workable non-profit corporation and raising funds to finance sustain operations.

Richard has been involved in the veteran’s service area since October 2015 as a Chapter / Post Service Officer and State Department Service Officer. He is also the former Chairman of the Henderson Veterans Organization Forum, Nevada Veterans Organization Forum. He is a Purple Heart recipient who served multiple tours in Vietnam and completed 34 years of honorable service to our Nation. He retired from active duty on July 1, 1981 (20 Years) and then accepted a direct commission as a Captain on November 20, 1982 in the California Military Department, California Army National Guard, Southern Area Command, California Military Department. Richard is a frequent speaker at veterans’ organizations and functions in the Las Vegas Valley. Additionally, he is an editorial writer for the Veterans Reporter Newspaper.

Richard has a Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific Western University and he attended the United States Air Force Air (USAF) Command and Staff College in 1984, USAF Squadron Officer School in 1982, and the United States Army Engineer School in 1961.

James D. McCoy, Co-founder
VP, Operations
Henderson Service Office

James D. McCoy has worked in the social services sector for over seven years inspiring at risk teens and assisting veterans and their loved ones with filing claims to the Veterans Administration for service-connected benefits. He joined the Henderson Service Office in November 2019 and was appointed as Vice President of Operations in April 2021. JD has extensive operations management experience and expertise in leading organizations strategically towards sustainability and growth.

JD’s leadership includes over 36 years of combined experience gained in the United States Marine Corps and work in the civilian sector. He enlisted in the Marine Corps immediately after graduating from Oxon Hill High School in Prince Georges County, Maryland. He served as a Drill Instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, completed combat tours in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom). He left the service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (retired) and then worked in multiple leadership roles as a private contractor in Afghanistan.

He holds a Master of Leadership from University of Southern California, Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix, Bachelor of Science and Associates of Arts degrees from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in Oxon Hill, Maryland. He enjoys communicating with family, friends, physical fitness, and continuous learning.

Ronald Peters, Director of Programs Henderson Service Office

Ronald Peters, Nevada Veterans Supporter  assisting veterans and their family members with filing their VA Benefit Claims.  Joined the Henderson Service Office in May 2022 appointed as Director of Programs.  Ron is proud to stand up for veterans in receiving their VA benefits they so rightfully deserve, for serving in the United States Military fighting for our right to have Freedom of choice.

Ron is a Vietnam Veteran, served in the United States Navy and a graduate of Dominquez High School Compton, California.  Holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from California State University Long Beach (CSULB).  Certified in the State of Nevada as a Nevada Veterans Supporter since September 2022.
