What We Do

The Henderson Service Office has been in business for 9 years. It was founded in 2015 as a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3848 Service Office with James Kerr and Richard Keirn. It then moved to Aliante in North Las Vegas and become part of the Veterans Transition Resource Center (VTRC) and then moved with it to Las Vegas.

The Service Office became part of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 730 and moved into the Henderson Veterans Outreach Center with a sub office in the Las Vegas Veterans Outreach Center. It also put a sub office in the city of Overton. During that time, it became the Department of Nevada Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) Service Office and the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) Chapter 1076 Service Office with an outreach for VVA Chapter 17.

After 3 years, the Service Office departed the Henderson Veterans Outreach Center and moved to the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center where it also became a Service Office for Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12. While there, the Service Office formed its own Nevada Non-Profit Corporation as the Henderson Service Office.

The Service Office, departed the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center and moved to the Downtown Senior Center in Henderson. Then it left there and moved to the American Legion Post 40 in Henderson. It still supports the VVA Chapter 1076, the VTRC, and the American Legion Post 40.

The service Office at one time had fourteen people, but now it has only eight people. There are four doing outreach, two in Las Vegas, one in Overton and one in Henderson. The other four work in the office at Post 40.

Richard Keirn, started out with the office in 2015, is still running it. We are not Veteran Service Officers, do not represent the Veteran’s Administration, or any other Service Organization. We are Nevada Veterans Supporters who volunteer our time to assist Veterans and their family members with filing claims for benefits.

WHAT WE DO

We serve veterans, their dependents, and widows by assisting them with VA and Military affairs, discharge upgrades, military records, missing awards, and DD214 change request. We support the local elementary schools with our flag folding program. Also, we advise and work with Palm Mortuary and the Nevada State College Veterans Club on VA and Military matters.

WHO WE ARE

We are a team of dedicated veteran volunteers who are committed to assisting other veterans and family members with obtaining information and benefits from the Veterans Administration.
